ATSU-ASHS Alumni Chapter Board Living Tribute Award

Congratulations to Eric Sauers, PhD, ATC, ’97, FNATA, professor and chair, Department of Interdisciplinary Health Sciences, A.T. Still University’s Arizona School of Health Sciences (ATSU-ASHS) who has been awarded the ATSU-ASHS Alumni Chapter Board Living Tribute Award for 2014-15.
The award honors faculty, staff, and administrators for outstanding accomplishments and/or long-term service to the school. The award is given to those who advance the mission of the University in support of its programs, thereby ensuring the University’s impact on the community and future generations of students. Each recipient has made a lasting impact on the school through outstanding professional, academic, or research-related accomplishments.
According to the faculty nomination, “Dr. Sauers is the ultimate professional and has made a lasting impact on ATSU-ASHS through his outstanding professional, academic and research-related accomplishments. He is a pioneer in athletic training education, as evidenced by his professional and service activities. His vision for the ATSU athletic training program has made it one of the premier programs in the country. He has worked tirelessly, not only for athletic training, but for the other units in the Department of Interdisciplinary Health Sciences.”
Dr. Sauers has been recognized for his professional accomplishments by being named a Fellow of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association in 2010, as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Training Association Distinguished Educator in 2010, and as the 2011 Arizona Athletic Trainers’ Association President’s Award winner for his exemplary service on behalf of the association and/or the profession of athletic training. He was recognized for his tireless efforts in support of association legislative and governmental affairs activities. This past year he was accepted to the prestigious Harvard Macy Institute’s Program for Leading Innovations in Healthcare and Education.
