A.T. Still, MD, DO, famous Missourian

Andrew Taylor Still, MD, DO, has been selected for induction into the Hall of Famous Missourians at the state capitol in Jefferson City.

The hall is a collection of bronze busts that generally has honored people chosen by the House Speaker, but this year House Speaker Tim Jones opened the process to the people of Missouri. Dr. Still, the founder of American Osteopathy, received the most support in a public nominating and voting process for this honor. He came in with  nearly 38 percent of more than 34,000 votes. Science fiction author Robert Heinlein, came in second place, and will also be inducted, along with Jones’ choices of  Virginia Minor, who advocated for women’s voting rights, and Mel Hancock, author of a state constitutional amendment approved in 1980 that has become known simply as the “Hancock Amendment.”

A.T. Still University thanks everyone who voted to place Dr. Still’s name and legacy in the Hall of Famous Missourians.
