The ATSU Committee on Aging held its sixth annual Lecture on Aging on April 2 to enhance healthcare providers’ understanding of the challenges and opportunities in treating and caring for older patients.

Keynote speaker Paul R. Willging, Ph.D., presented “Chaos or Coordination: The Choice is Ours” live on the Missouri campus. Faculty, students, and university guests gathered on the Arizona campus to observe a broadcasted version.

“The Annual ATSU Lectures on Aging were conceived to heighten awareness of the aging of America among our students, and to foster their willingness to respond to the growing senior health care challenge,” says Michael Creedon, D.S.W., director of geriatric health.  “Dr. Willging from Johns Hopkins brought unique knowledge of the US health service system for elders to us, and also very strong awareness of ATSU from his years of service at SHM and on the University Board.”

Dr. Willging is associate director of the Center on Aging and Health at Johns Hopkins University and associate director of the division on geriatric medicine and gerentology. He served as a professor and program director of Geriatric Health Management at ATSU from 1999-2000, and currently serves as a member of the ATSU Board of Trustees.
