From the Missouri campus library

October was a very busy month on campus and in the library. On Oct. 4, Jean Sidwell, MLIS, and Debra Loguda-Summers traveled to the Missouri Library Association meeting to present the “3-D Printing in Curriculum and Research” poster. This poster and 3-D print models were viewed by members of the A.T. Still University (ATSU) board at a meeting held on Oct. 20, in conjunction with Founder’s Week.

The library had a ribbon cutting ceremony on Oct. 19 to dedicate the Osteopathic Medicine Reading Room. ATSU President Craig Phelps, DO, ‘84 was on hand and made comments.

On Oct. 25, local television station KTVO filmed the library’s NLM Civil War exhibit and interviewed Sidwell for a special Civil War presentation that aired on KTVO on Friday, Oct. 27. The library also had a small opening with tea and fruit.

Missouri library staff are now planning the next exhibit for March 9, 2018 entitled, “Over There: Missouri & the Great War.” Missourioverthere.org, is a digital and physical collection of historical documents, photographs, artifacts, oral histories, and other original material from museums, archives, and private collection across Missouri. This exhibit features the crucial role Missouri mules held in the war, the work of Missouri nurses and female volunteers, and the military service of Missouri soldiers.
