Posted: April 7, 2011Award recognizes exemplary medical faculty for leadership The Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine (OU-COM) selected E. Lee Foster, D.O., ’61, clinical professor of family medicine at St. Joseph Health Center, as a recipient of the college’s Master Faculty Award. Given only every five years, the Master Faculty award recognizes exemplary faculty members of the Centers for Osteopathic Research and Education (CORE), OU-COM’s system of affiliated teaching hospitals located throughout Ohio. The award honors their committed service to OU-COM and the CORE system, and their ongoing contributions to clinical education programs. “One of the greatest parts of my job is recognizing colleagues like Dr. Foster, who have played such an important role in preparing our students, interns and residents to be caring, compassionate and competent physicians,” said OU-COM Dean Jack Brose, D.O. Dr. Foster, of Cortland, is a graduate of A.T. Still University’s Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and specializes in family medicine. In 2002 and 2003, Dr. Foster was awarded the CORE Outstanding Faculty Award. Recipients of the Master Faculty designation are chosen based upon five criteria: • Time spent teaching trainees; • Recognition by trainees; • Contributions to OU-COM; • Leadership in OU-COM and the CORE; and • Outstanding achievement or activities that bring recognition to the College, CORE System and the Osteopathic profession.
