ATSU-ASHS Physician Assistant program student feels at home with supportive faculty, staff, cohort

Christopher Dangerfield, ATSU-ASHS Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies program student

A.T. Still University-Arizona School of Health Sciences (ATSU-ASHS) Physician Assistant (PA) program student Christopher Dangerfield, PA, ’24, became a student ambassador to help take some of the mental burden off those going through the daunting process of applying to graduate school.

Dangerfield can walk them through the process, and also assure them, from his own personal experience, that things will be great on the other side.

“I enjoy my cohort and faculty. I can’t compliment them enough,” he said. “I feel at home each day in the classroom, and that has done wonders for my own mental health.”

Dangerfield is originally from Chicago and has a bachelor’s of biomedical sciences degree from Northern Arizona University. He was drawn to ATSU by the University’s mission, and was also quickly impressed by ATSU-ASHS faculty and staff.

Outside of the classroom, Dangerfield enjoys staying physically active, going to the gym and hiking on weekends.

As for the future, he hopes to become a well-rounded PA, something ATSU-ASHS is preparing him for.

“My hope is to be a well-rounded PA who not only focuses on my patients’ physical health, but their mental health as well. ATSU has wonderful resources and curriculum built into the program that will allow me to excel in whole person healthcare,” he said.
