ATSRI hosts 12th annual Interdisciplinary Biomedical Research Symposium

A.T. Still University’s (ATSU) A.T. Still Research Institute (ATSRI) recently hosted its 12th annual Interdisciplinary Biomedical Research Symposium (IBRS), conducted virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Saturday’s event was the largest in IBRS’ history, with more than 100 abstracts submitted by students and faculty at ATSU’s colleges and schools, residents, and students from other universities.

The event included remarks from ATSU President Craig Phelps, DO, ’84, and keynote speeches by Don Altman, DDS, DHSc, EdD, MPH, MBA, MA, ATSU-College of Graduate Health Studies dean and professor, and Damon Tweedy, MD, associate professor at Duke University School of Medicine and staff physician at Durham Veterans Affairs Health Care System.
ASTRI leaders Ann Spolarich, RDH, PhD, FSCHD, ATSU-Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health professor and assistant dean for research, co-director of ASTRI’s Center for Oral Health Research; Joan Davis,RDH, PhD, ATSU-Missouri School of Dentistry & Oral Health professor and assistant dean for research, co-director of ASTRI’s Center for Oral Health Research; Brian Degenhardt, DO, ATSRI director; Eric Snider, DO, ATSU-KCOM Department of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine chair, co-director of ASTRI’s Center for Research in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine; Joy Lewis, DO, PhD, FACP, ATSU-SOMA professor, Department of Public Health chair, Public Health & Practice-Based Research director, DO/MPH program director, Practice-Based Research Network director, and director of ATSRI’s National Center for Community Health Research, also presented during the event.
