This past month, the official science journal of the American Association for Respiratory Care published an abstract from Dr. Alexander’s research paper “Validation Functional Fitness Tests as Surrogates for Strength Measurement in Frail, Older Adults with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.” It was selected as “Editor’s Choice” for the September 2009 issue, and Respiratory Care asked Dr. Alexander to be a reviewer for the journal.
Dr. Alexander’s paper was originally published in the American Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, a premier journal in the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation.
Dr. Alexander is currently working with Melissa Benton, Ph.D., R.N., CNS, assistant professor at the College of Nursing at Valdosta State University in Georgia to conduct research with Mesa’s Banner Heart Hospital’s Pulmonary Rehabilitation program during their doctoral programs in exercise and wellness at Arizona State University’s Polytechnic campus.
