John H. Olson, PhD, joined the anatomy team at ATSU-SOMA in 2009. He earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from The Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He did research into early contrast enhancement agents for magnetic resonance imaging, and then went on to receive a doctorate of philosophy in molecular and cellular biology from Arizona State University, Tempe, Arizona. Dr. Olson discovered the amphibian sperm chemotractant allurin, and became a faculty member at ASU after receiving his doctorate. Prior to becoming adjunct faculty at ATSU-SOMA, Dr. Olson taught physiology, anatomy, biochemistry, and genetics to pre-med and allied health students. In 2015, he joined SOMA full time to participate in the creation of new teaching methods and technologies that advance student education in anatomy.
