Research Interests:

1. Understand the cellular mechanisms behind Alzheimer’s disease (AD) using a non-transgenic rodent animal model to mimic the sporadic form of AD with focus on cardiorespiratory issues related to AD.
2. Study the cellular and molecular mechanisms by which the cytokine erythropoietin (Epo) protects respiratory motor neurons from injury using a rodent model for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
