Stimulant medication induced hyposalivation in adolescents

The fact that more boys were medicated for ADHD than girls is consistent with reported literature.[1] While flow rates decreased with ADHD medication use, the average rate of group A was not <0.1 ml/min - which is when people tend to become symptomatic.[5] This could explain why participants who had diminished flow did not perceive that they were dry. Also that there was no difference in pH between the groups. The reduction in salivary flow of individuals taking ADHD stimulant medication is of significance in this trial. Next steps would be to investigate oral outcomes of this reduction.
