Leading the way in advanced dentistry
The Center for Advanced Oral Health at ATSU-ASDOH in Mesa provides comprehensive, patient-centered dentistry for patients with advanced oral healthcare needs. Supporting community dental practices, the Center assists dentists with specialized, high-risk cases while ensuring they remain the primary dental care providers.
The 11,000-square-foot clinic is Arizona’s first to offer the expertise and technology to treat patients with complicating factors such as cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, bariatric needs, cardiac disease, hemophilia and other blood disorders, kidney/liver disease, and physical or developmental disabilities. The Center includes the Dr. Rick Workman Advanced Care Clinic and the Orthodontic Clinic.
Patients receive advanced care in one location, eliminating the need to visit multiple specialists. World-class teaching specialists, supported by top students and residents, provide efficient, patient-centered care while keeping primary care dentists informed and involved. The Center also coordinates care with area hospitals, the Arizona Kidney Foundation, the Hemophilia Foundation, the Huntington Disease Foundation, and participates in the Ryan White program.
Dental practices may not always be equipped for medically complex cases, which can require extra consultation and research. The Center provides these advanced services so dental teams can continue serving other patients without compromise, offering convenience, expertise, and continuity of care for challenging cases.
Arizona’s first dental school, ATSU-ASDOH has addressed the nation’s oral healthcare needs since 2003. The school emphasizes critical inquiry, evidence-based practice, research, cultural competency, prevention-focused care, and interdisciplinary healthcare experiences. Students are prepared to become caring, community-minded healthcare leaders.
