I was a sophomore in my undergraduate degree program when I discovered A.T. Still University (ATSU). It happened as a result of an assignment to research advanced degrees in our field. When I came across ATSU’s Doctor of Athletic Training (DAT) program, I instantly needed to learn more. I met with a few DAT professors at the National Athletic Training Association (NATA) convention and immediately fell in love with the AT profession all over again. I had no idea the impact that I could make by achieving an advanced degree. My favorite part of the DAT program was completing the Applied Research Project (ARP). I focused my doctoral research on mental health initiatives in the field of sports medicine. With guidance from the DAT professors, I discovered my passion for patient-centered care, mentoring future clinicians, and advancing the field of athletic training as it relates to mental health in sports.
