DAT Life Moments | Lea B.

Shadow

I chose to start the Doctor of Athletic Training program at ATSU because I have the ultimate goal of educating and inspiring athletic training students in all that the profession has to offer.

In my junior year as an athletic training student at a different school, during my first year of clinical rotations, I was told by a clinical preceptor that I would never be a good athletic trainer. She constantly complained about the profession and nearly broke my spirit. I unfortunately have had too many of these experiences with athletic training educators who were supposed to teach and support me.

After working as a field athletic trainer for three years and absolutely falling in love with it, I decided I wanted to share my passion with athletic training students and give them a more positive experience than I had.

ATSU's program has already offered me so much clinical knowledge as well as many tools to be an effective teacher through the education track. ATSU is helping me get closer to reaching my goal of becoming an athletic training professor in the future.
