As early as possible - applications can be filed beginning June 1.
What do I need to do to receive the secondary application?
All applicants with an average cumulative and average science GPA of 2.80 or higher will receive a secondary application invitation by email.
When will I receive the secondary application?
Secondary applications are sent after we receive the AACOMAS application.

Application Review Process
How are application files assessed?
The screening committee reviews every application in its entirety.
Am I a competitive applicant?
At SOMA, we look at all aspects of an applicant’s file. Please contact an Admissions Counselor to talk about your unique situation.
Should I contact the Office of Admissions to check on the status of my application?
Absolutely - you need to know. Feel free to contact us.
What happens after my file is complete?
Your file goes to the Screening Committee to be assessed. We encourage applicants to contact the Admissions Office to check on the status of their application.
When do interviews begin?
Interviews typically begin in September and will go through May.
When will I find out if I have received an interview?
After your file has been reviewed by the Screening Committee, you will be notified by email of our decision. In some cases, files are held for later review - you will be notified by email if this occurs.
What is the interview day like?
At SOMA we are committed to fulfilling our mission of preparing excellent osteopathic physicians to serve the health care needs of society. The interview day is a chance for us to get to know you and see if we think you are a good fit to help us meet this mission. Just as important, it is a chance for you to get to know us and decide if the college is a good fit for you and your career plans. The structure of the interview day is designed to facilitate this process of "getting to know one another".
During the interview day activities you will have a chance to meet many of the faculty and students, tour the facilities of SOMA, participate in a panel interview, solve a problem collaboratively with your peers and just enjoy getting to know our people and what we are about. The faculty, staff and students look forward to meeting you on the interview day.
How long after an interview will it take for a decision to be made?
The Admissions Committee meets weekly. In general, decisions are rendered within two-three weeks from the date of the interview.
What are the required fee payments after I am accepted?
After you are accepted, there is a $1,000 acceptance fee, a $1000 pre-matriculation fee. Payment due dates will be determined according to when the acceptance is offered.
