ATSU pays tribute to the following graduates who passed away or notification was
received from October 1 to October 31, 2009.
1940s
He was a family practice physician in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Florida, and Georgia, delivering 756 babies.
Dr. Jones was a member of the American Osteopathic Association, Georgia Osteopathic Medical Association, Oconee County Senior Center, and Happy Squares Dance Group.
he was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Marie Perry Jones, and his sister, Juanita Jones Culbertson.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Jim Crouch; his daughter, Marlene Fleming; his grandchildren; and his great granddaughter.
The family has asked that in in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Dr. Jones memory to ATSU -KCOM.

Ernest L. Slaughter, D.O., '53
Dr. Slaughter was also a graduate of Truman State University in Kirksville. He was on staff at Normandy Osteopathic Hospital and Des Peres Hospital, St. Louis County, Mo. He was a fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians and served as president of the MIssouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (MAOPS) in 1974-75. He received the MAOPS Distinguished Service Award in 1984, Lifetime Achievement in Teaching Award from Des Peres Hospital (1954-2002); honored by Metropolitan Medical Center for 38 years of "outstanding contributions and devoted service" and the Missouri State Board of Registration for the Healing Arts for 45 years of service. He was a life member of the American Osteopathic Association, MAOPS, and the St. Louis District Osteopathic Association.
The State of Missouri recognized Dr. Slaughter for his service in the U.S. Armed Forces in World War II. He was a long-time member of Gideons International, a deacon in the Southern Baptist Church, and active in mission work and many other charitable causes.
