About the Project
The Early Journal Project, launched in 2007, began with The Journal of Osteopathy. Over the past year we have added several thousand pages of osteopathic journals and books, ranging from the American Osteopathic Historical Society Bulletin to the Western Osteopath. This project also features books from some of the great osteopaths of their time, such as Still, Littlejohn, Feidler, Hazzard and Halladay, with many more still to come.
None of this could have been done without the generous support of the Academie d'osteopathic de France and Dr. Laurent Stubbe, President of the Academy, as well as donations from Jane Stark, DOMP (Canada). These gifts, along with our subscription fees, help us offer this unique resource to the patrons and researchers of the Museum and ICOH. We would also like to thank our scanning technicians, Aaron Loguda and Kristine Tiu, for their technical contributions.
Currently, these journals are only searchable by individual months. Due to font changes in the journals, word searches are limited. In addition, some years the journals were not printed, while other issues have been lost to time. Access to our online collection of journals requires a $10 per calendar month fee for private users or $100.00 for a yearly subscription. Get access now (see below for institutional fees)
Once your payment has been processed, you will receive an email that will provide you with login information to view and/or download the PDF documents that are currently available in our collection. The password** you receive will be usable until the last day of the calendar month for which you paid (i.e. you pay the fee within the month of January - your access is good until January 31).
**Please note: The password will be reset the first calendar day of each month. If you wish to continue accessing the collection, or more documents become available in a future month that you wish to download, you may request the new password and pay the $10 fee again (and as often as you wish). As the project progresses, monies collected will allow us to add more documents to the online collection.

OSTMED.DR® is an osteopathic medicine digital library created by a partnership between Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) and VTLS, Inc. in 2006. OSTMED.DR® builds upon OSTMED®, a bibliographic index to the literature of osteopathic medicine. OSTMED® was sponsored by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) and the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) and originally developed by the Gibson D. Lewis Health Science Library of the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth (UNTHSC-FW) along with the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine's (KCOM) A.T. Still Memorial Library with contract approval in June 1997. While OSTMED® is a bibliographic index, OSTMED.DR® provides access to all ingested content within the repository, as well as being full-text indexed and searchable. OSTMED.DR® is endorsed by the AOA and AACOM and funded by VCOM through the Harvey W. Peters Foundation. The goal of the project is to promote and facilitate research and scholarly activity in the osteopathic profession by providing ready access to the current osteopathic literature and heretofore hard to find resources, including historical documents. Books, core journals, selective journals, video and images will be included. Although not part of the initial OSTMED.DR® project, VCOM/VTLS will collaborate on a second project.
