Uzoma Ikonne, PhD, received his bachelor’s degree in neuroscience from Baylor University and his doctorate in biomedical sciences from the Department of Pharmacology and Neuroscience at the University of North Texas Health Science Center. While at the University of North Texas, Dr. Ikonne focused on examining the relationship between brain aging, mitochondrial dysfunction, and oxidative stress. After completing his doctorate, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of North Carolina Pembroke, and in his second year began serving as a research assistant professor. While teaching freshman biology he discovered a passion for teaching, and has enjoyed teaching pharmacology to the next generation of physicians
