Objectives

• Define ankle sprains and discuss current diagnostic criteria
• Explain the pathophysiology including the etiology, epidemiology, and risk factors for ankle sprains
• Discuss the clinical manifestations and the physical examination findings for ankle sprains
• Describe and administer the osteopathic manipulative treatment approach to management of the patient with an ankle sprain and discuss the treatment goals of the various types of techniques
