AuD Life Moments | Dr. Bettina T.

Shadow

I would highly recommend ATSU’s Post-Professional Doctor of Audiology program to anyone wishing to pursue AuD studies. I put it off for a long time, thinking I wasn't ready or was too busy, but I found that I was able to do the previously unimaginable with a flexible learning schedule and the ability to access coursework from anywhere, at any time (almost!).

I travel a lot, so I did a lot of work in airport lounges, on the plane, and even submitted assignments whilst riding in a taxi. At home, I worked on my studies after dinner and on weekends. I like to chunk things down into smaller parts to stay motivated. When an assignment or exam looks daunting to start with, I look at what I can do first, then tackle one part at a time as I go along.

My family was wonderful throughout my studies. My husband took over the bulk of cooking duties and my kids were all studying in their final year of school or at university, so we all studied and supported each other.

My workplace was also wonderful. I was supported financially because the subjects I chose were aligned with those I am working on at work. Throughout my studies, my work was positively affected by the research I was doing.

Dr. Ruotolo was absolutely wonderful and very supportive throughout my time at ATSU. She was very sensitive to my travel schedule and afforded me flexibility at times when I was unable to access the ATSU network. I really loved the high level of interaction with other students throughout the course. This really contributed to broadening my learning from others’ experience and perspectives.
