Our foundational courses are excellent for osteopathically recognized residency programs–particularly those with MD faculty supervising residents, MD applicants preparing for osteopathic-focused training, and as a refresher course for DOs in practice and teaching. Beginning in 2026, the course will follow a two-year repeating cycle, giving participants consistent access to both foundational and advanced content regardless of the year they enroll.

Year One (2026) Upper Body Curriculum

Year One provides a strong foundation in osteopathic principles, assessment, biomechanics, and introductory manual techniques for the upper body. Hands-on lecture and lab session will include:

Cervical Spine: assessment, basic biomechanics, counterstrain, and muscle energy

Thoracic Spine: assessment, basic biomechanics, counterstrain, and muscle energy

Rib Cage: assessment, biomechanics and treatment strategies

Upper Limb: assessment biomechanics, counterstrain, and muscle energy

Clinical applications highlighted in Year One include neck pain, shoulder dysfunction, thoracic back pain, and respiratory-related conditions such as pneumonia.

Year Two (2027) Lower Body Curriculum

Year Two builds on the foundation developed in Year One and expands into lower body regions and technique applications.

Lumber Spine: assessment, biomechanics, counterstrain, and muscle energy

Sacrum and Pelvis: assessment and treatment techniques

Lower Limb: assessment, biomechanics, counterstrain, and muscle energy

Clinical examples include low back pain, hip pain, and knee-related conditions commonly encountered in both outpatient and inpatient care.

Program Benefits

This structured two-year cycle offers flexibility while ensuring a complete, educational experience over time.
