Resources to Support Your Well-being During COVID-19
The COVID-19 pandemic and the risk of infection can be overwhelming and anxiety inducing. Still OPTI has compiled resources to support your well-being, which include coping strategies and counseling support services available to physicians.
It is imperative we take care of ourselves and our colleagues to minimize psychological stress and to also best serve patients.
- Please make it a priority to connect with your colleagues, your residents, and other providers to support each other and let others know they’re not alone.
- Practice compassion and respect during this challenging time as this crisis may be taking an emotional toll on others with whom we work.

Develop self-care practice to stay mentally healthy. Below are some tips.
- Develop an intentional morning routine. Choose the tone for your day, such as quiet time to read.
- Practice gratitude, prayer, or meditation.
- Get showered and dressed even if you have nowhere to go.
- Make time for meaningful social interaction with your inner circle.
- Choose when to watch or read the news, maybe once a day to avoid stress.
- Honor your body’s need for sleep. Most adults need 7-9 hours.
- Eat well to take care of your nutritional needs.
- Exercise. Even 5 minutes can make a difference.
- Get outside. Spend some time in nature.
- Make time to relax and rejuvenate.
- Consider journaling; remember to mention your wins and accomplishments.
- Limit television and computer use before bed.
