Supragingival biofilm/plaque - Incorrect. This plaque is important in dental caries formation and if not removed can then extend down to the subgingiva. However, it is the subgingival plaque that causes inflammation of the gingiva, periodontal pocket formation, destruction of the periodontal ligament and alveolar bone loss.
