ATSU sponsors book signing event

Renowned European author Christian Hartmann to unveil latest work

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Still National Osteopathic Museum in collaboration with the Undergraduate American Academy of Osteopathy is proud to present renowned European author and editor Christian Hartmann, MD.  Mr. Hartmann will be unveiling his latest book, “An Illustrated Practice of Osteopathy-1908.”

A book signing will take place on February 20, 2006 in Heritage Hall located on the campus of ATSU’sKirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM) in the Tinning Education Building.

A brief program will start at 12:15, with introduction by Dr. James McGovern, President of ATSU-KCOM. At this time Mr. Hartmann, Dr. James McGovern and Jason Haxton, will be signing books.

Books will be available at a special price of $43.00, and may be purchased at the signing.

The public is encouraged to come and share in this event to gain a better understanding of osteopathic medicine as its founder would have wanted it.

“New opportunities have arisen, like this book from our partnership in education with the European osteopathic professionals” said Jason Haxton, Director of the Still National Osteopathic Museum.

This unique book features sixty-nine never before seen OMM photos from the museums’ collection including, one photo of Dr. Andrew Taylor Still, MD, DO giving a treatment.  Also, there are prefaces translated in four languages by Dr. James McGovern, President of ATSU-KCOM, Jason Haxton, Director of the Museum, and Dr. Etienne Cloet and Jane Stark, DO. 

Following introductions and a discussion of the new book, there will be a brief perspective of osteopathy in Europe facilitated by the UAAO.
