  • Life in Missouri +

    • Explore the Kirksville community:

ATSU’s Thompson Campus Center include a full-size basketball court (volleyball available), two Stair Masters, one NordicTrac, two elliptical runners, three treadmills, three stationary bikes, one rowing machine, two racquetball courts, an outdoor trail, 12 paramount selectorized weight machines, a climbing wall, free weights, sauna, whirlpool, and full locker room facilities. Activity classes are subject to availability.

The Kirksville Aquatic Center offers indoor and outdoor swimming and pool activities throughout the year. There are water aerobics classes, swim lessons, and discounted multi-visit punch passes available. During the summer months the outdoor pool is open, which includes a 120-foot water slide, an interactive play area, the teacup and mushroom, water cannons, Zero Beach entry, and 25-yard lap lanes.

Thousand Hills State Park is a mere three miles away from ATSU. “The park’s central feature is the lake, which boasts a variety of recreational opportunities, including swimming, fishing, boating and skiing. While the reservoir supplies water to the community, the park’s natural features recall a time when woodlands and savannas covered northern Missouri. Visitors can experience some of these natural wonders by hiking the park’s trails. Hiking, mountain bicycling and nature study are popular on-land activities.”

The Adair County Public Library, conveniently located in Kirksville, offers children’s books, large print books, books on audio tape, videos, music compact discs, magazines, newspaper index, educational compact discs, and books on compact discs. There are also many community activities sponsored by the library.
