Student Osteopathic Surgical Association (SOSA)
Founded in 1989, the Student Osteopathic Surgical Association (SOSA) is a national organization representing more than 1,300 aspiring surgeons. SOSA provides a forum for representation and offers extracurricular surgical education and training to encourage the pursuit of excellence. It is the first and only such organization of its kind in the history of osteopathy. SOSA is affiliated with the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons (ACOS) and attends their annual convention. The founding chapter of SOSA is ATSU-KCOM, which serves as the headquarters. Most members have aspirations toward the field of surgery, but this is not a requirement.
