Bill Wightkin, Pharm.D., MS
Assistant Professor, Pharmacology
Dr. Wightkin received a bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa and a doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from the University of Texas, Austin. He completed a 1 year clinical pharmacy residency in adult medicine at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin, Texas. In 2009, he received a master of Science in Safety Sciences degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Prior to joining the SOMA faculty in 2011, his professional experiences include a faculty position at a college of pharmacy, a clinical pharmacy coordinator of a hospital pharmacy, a director of a hospital pharmacy and a medication safety specialist for a healthcare system.
Dr. Wightkin’s interests include the safe use of high alert medications and fostering a multidisciplinary, system approach to assure safe and effective patient care and medication prescribing.
