Virtual CHC Continuity and Educational Specialist
Monica Fernandez, MMS, PA-C joined the innovative Virtual Community Health Center (VCHC) Project at SOMA in July, 2013 as the Continuity and Educational Specialist. Monica earned her Masters of Medical Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies with an Emphasis in Bioethics from Midwestern University in Glendale, AZ in 2007. Prior to attending PA school and after receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from Penn State University, she developed extensive experience in medical Spanish translation and interpretation, theater and photography which are activities she continues to this day. Having an ongoing love for teaching, she has been part of the ATSU community since 2009 when she joined the PA Program, first as adjunct and then as full-time faculty, in March, 2010. Since joining the VCHC Project at SOMA, she remains adjunct faculty in the ATSU PA and PT programs. Her clinical background as a physician assistant is in urgent care and emergency medicine.
