Katherine Brown, PhD, received her bachelor’s degree in molecular biology from the University of California at San Diego and her doctorate in infectious diseases and immunity from the University of California at Berkeley. Her doctoral work focused on the regulation of dengue virus replication. She then spent the next seven years working for a molecular diagnostics company developing diagnostic tests for various viruses and bacteria, including tests for screening donated blood.
Dr. Brown joined ATSU-SOMA faculty in July 2013. She is passionate about teaching future physicians about microbiology so they will have a good working knowledge about pathogens, to not only diagnose and treat infected individuals but to educate their healthy patients about them.
