Jay Crutchfield, MD, FACS, a native of Arizona, joined the teaching faculty of SOMA in June, 2010. Dr. Crutchfield, a board-certified general surgeon, received his B.A. degree (Chemistry) from the University of Arizona, a doctorate in medicine from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine (New York, NY). He is a former member of the Arizona Medical Board (appointed by Governor Hull), and the Arizona Regulatory Board of Physician Assistants (appointed by Governor Jan Brewer).

At SOMA, Dr. Crutchfield will join the anatomy faculty and developing the surgery curriculum. In his spare time, he enjoys astronomy, astrophotography, and collecting rock n roll memorabilia.
