Research Interests: Ms. Sexton is interested in the molecular mechanisms involved in cataract formation. The lab's focus is on agents such as hypocholesterolemic drugs and steroids which affect the ocular lens membrane. Damage to the cells of this membrane may commit the lens to cataract formation. Cataracts are a leading cause of blindness worldwide and account for one of the most commonly performed surgeries in this country.
