2007 "Still-the Best" Class Reunions

The 2007 Class Reunion, held October 18-20, honored ATSU-KCOM alumni celebrating their 20th, 40th, 45th, and 50th class anniversaries as well as those members of the President’s Gold Medallion Club (alumni who have already celebrated their fiftieth class anniversary since graduation).

Over 60 alumni and guests enjoyed a reception and dinner at the Dining Lodge at Thousand Hills State Park Thursday evening, October 18. Those participating included the reunion classes of 1987, 1967, 1962, 1957, members of the President’s Gold Medallion Club, emeritus faculty, and staff.

Alumni joined ATSU-KCOM students for the Founder’s Day Program held October 19 which consisted of the Scott Memorial Lecture presented by John Glover, D.O.; the State of the University Address by James J. McGovern, Ph.D., ATSU President; the State of the College Address by Jon Persavich, Ph.D., Dean of the School of Health Management; the State of the College Address by Philip C. Slocum, D.O., FCCP, FACOI, FCCM, '76, Vice President for Medical Affairs and Dean of Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine; followed by the Gold Medallion and Alumni Recognition Ceremony, when members of the class of 1957 received their Gold Medallions. 

Alumni had the opportunity to tour the new Connell Information Technologies Center.  This state-of-the-art facility houses an advanced library, six patient simulation models, an enormous osteopathic manipulation/clinical examination skills lab, computer labs, several student breakout rooms, study rooms, and a new, enlarged space for the Multimedia Department.

Alumni also toured the Still National Osteopathic Museum’s research and collections area, attended a seminar presented by ATSU Admissions, and participated in a financial and estate planning seminar.  To conclude the reunion activities, the “Still-A-Bration” festival was a big hit uniting students, alumni, faculty, staff, and family. The festival included games for the whole family, lots of food, music, entertainment, and dancing.

2006 "Still-the Best" Class Reunions

The 2006 Class Reunion, held September 28-30, honored ATSU-KCOM alumni celebrating their thirtieth, fortieth, forty-fifth, and fiftieth class anniversaries, as well as those members in the President’s Gold Medallion Club (alumni who have already celebrated their fiftieth class anniversary since graduation).

Over 70 alumni and guests enjoyed a reception and dinner at the Dining Lodge at Thousand Hills State Park on September 28.  Those participating included the reunion classes of 1976, 1966, 1961, 1956, members of the President’s Gold Medallion Club, emeritus faculty, and staff. 

Alumni joined ATSU-KCOM students for the Founder’s Day Program which consisted of the State of the University Address by James J. McGovern, Ph.D., ATSU President; the State of the College Address by Philip C. Slocum, D.O., FCCP, FACOI, FCCM, ’76, Vice President for Medical Affairs and Dean; the Scott Memorial Lecture presented by Herbert C. Miller, D.O., FAAO, followed by the Gold Medallion and Alumni Recognition Ceremony.  The members of the class of 1956 received their Gold Medallions.  Doran A. Farnum, D.O., ’36, received special recognition for celebrating his seventieth class anniversary.

Alumni had the opportunity to tour the Still National Osteopathic Museum archives, attend a seminar presented by ATSU Admissions, and participate in a financial and estate planning seminar.  To conclude the reunion activities, the “Still-A-Bration” festival was a big hit uniting students, alumni, faculty, staff, and family. The festival included games for the whole family, lots of food, music, and entertainment.  There was even a talent show in which B.J. Davis, D.O. ’56, wowed the audience with his saw-playing rendition of Unchained Melody.  After the talent show was an evening full of dancing where some of our alumni showed students how to REALLY do the twist!

While in Kirksville alumni had the opportunity to take a tour of the ATSU-KCOM campus, as well as a bus tour of the Kirksville community.

2005 "Still-the Best" Class Reunions

The 2005 Reunion Journey held September 22-24 honored KCOM alumni celebrating their fortieth, forty-fifth, and fiftieth class anniversaries as well as those members in the President’s Gold Medallion Club (alumni who have already celebrated their fiftieth class anniversary since graduation).

Over 60 alumni and guests enjoyed a reception and dinner at the Dining Lodge at Thousand Hills State Park Thursday evening, September 22.  Those participating included the reunion classes of 1965, 1960, 1955, members of the President’s Gold Medallion Club, emeritus faculty, and staff.  Lloyd J. Cleaver, D.O., FAOCD, ’76, president of the Kirksville Osteopathic Alumni Association, was the emcee for the evening.

Friday morning alumni joined KCOM students for the Scott Memorial Lecture presented by Karen M. Steele, D.O., FAAO, ’78, president of the American Academy of Osteopathy, followed by the Gold Medallion presentations and Alumni Recognition program.  Alumni receiving their Gold Medallion were Andrew H. Berry, D.O., Orchard Lake, Mich.; Donald G. Burns, D.O., Middletown, Ohio; William W. Brentlinger, D.O., Grandview, Mo.; Maurice E. Fuchs, D.O., Hawesville, Ky.; David W. Humphrey, D.O.,  Shippenville, Pa.; Quentin P. Kling, D.O., Palos Heights, Ill.; Delbert E. Maddox, D.O., Kirksville; Richard H. Mercer, D.O., Kirksville; Russell B. Sadler, D.O., Lancaster, Calif.; James M. Short, D.O., Skiatook, Okla.; Keith P. Sutton, D.O., Catoosa, Okla.; and G. Fred Warren, D.O., Springfield, Mo.

Following the morning programs alumni joined CME participants for a joint luncheon followed by the Founder’s Day Program.  The Founder’s Day Program consisted of the State of the University Address by James J. McGovern, Ph.D., President; the State of the Medical School Address by Philip C. Slocum, D.O., FCCP, FACOI, FCCM, 1976, vice president for medical affairs and dean; Founder’s Day Address by John R. Gimpel, D.O., M.Ed., vice president for clinical skills testing for the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners; and an activity sponsored by the Still National Osteopathic Museum which led alumni and guests into the museum’s archives.

Other activities throughout the weekend included the annual Founder’s Day CME Program “A Manipulative Update: Osteopathic Pioneers: Honoring Paul Kimberly, D.O., FAAO,”  and the “Still-A-Bration” festival, which included games for the whole family, a barbecue, music, and entertainment.  While in Kirksville alumni had the opportunity to take a tour of the KCOM campus as well as a bus tour of the Kirksville community.

2004"Still-the Best" Class Reunions

Over 65 alumni and guests attended a luncheon at the Travelers Inn on October 15, 2004, for the classes of 1954, 1959, 1964, and members of the President's Gold Medallion Club. "The Reunion Journey: Your Ticket to the Past. Your Passport to the Future" was the theme for the "Still--the Best" class reunion events.

Following the luncheon, alumni attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Connell Information Technologies Center. They also attended the Founder's Day Program, which included the A. T. Still Memorial Service; Birthplace Cabin and First School Ceremonies; Key Ceremony; State of the University Address by James J. McGovern, Ph.D., President, ATSU; the State of the Medical School Address by Philip C. Slocum, D.O., FCCP, FACOI, FCCM, Vice President for Medical Affairs and Dean, KCOM; Founder's Day Address by Douglas Wood, D.O., Ph.D., President, American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine; and the Gold Medallion Presentations and Alumni Recognition program.

Members of the class of 1954 present to receive their Gold Medallions were: Charles A. Gard, D.O., West Palm Beach, Fla.; Harmon L. Myers, D.O., Tucson, Ariz.; George H. Scheurer, D.O., Kirksville; and Plato E. Varidin, D.O., St. Petersburg, Fla.

Other activities included the "Still-A-Bration" festival, which included games for the whole family, a barbecue, music, and entertainment. While in Kirksville, alumni had the opportunity to take a tour of the KCOM campus as well as a bus tour of the Kirksville community. The classes of 1954, 1959, and 1964 each had private socials at various establishments in the Kirksville area.

The weekend activities concluded on October 16 with an Alumni Breakfast, followed by an activity sponsored by The Still National Osteopathic Museum, which led alumni and guests into the Museum's archives. View photos.
