Awards

The Alumni Association gratefully recognizes individuals each year who have made outstanding contributions to the Association, KCOM, and the osteopathic profession. The following details these awards:

Honorary Membership
Honorary membership may be conferred by specific action of the Board of Directors and approval of the Assembly upon persons who have rendered meritorious service to osteopathic education.

An honorary member, unless he/she is also a regular member, shall not hold elective office in the Association nor have a vote in the Assembly.

Living Tribute Award
The award was established by the Alumni Association in 1969 to recognize and honor KCOM faculty members and administrators for outstanding accomplishments/long-term service to the College.

This award provides the opportunity for fellow alumni, colleagues, patients, students, and friends to honor the award recipient and support KCOM's educational program. All gifts received are restricted for the Education Program Fund.

2009 Living Tribute Award, Margaret A. Wilson, D.O., '82

Distinguished Service Award
This award, established by the Alumni Association in 1991, may be granted to alumni and friends of the College and the Alumni Association who have provided outstanding service/financial support to KCOM and or the Alumni Association. Recipients cannot be serving on the Alumni Association Board of Directors at the time of selection. The number of awards presented each year is unlimited.

Alumnus of the Year
Established by the Alumni Association Board of Directors in 1982, this award recognizes a KCOM alumnus each year who has made outstanding contributions to the College and the osteopathic profession. Criteria for selection of a recipient is:

1. Must be a KCOM graduate.
2. Cannot be serving on the Board of Directors at the time of selection.
3. Must be active in local, state, and national professional societies.

This award provides the opportunity for fellow alumni, colleagues, patients, students, and friends to honor the award recipient and support KCOM's educational programs. All gifts received are restricted for the Education Program Fund.
