Application Checklist

Application Submission

Complete the application form and return with a nonrefundable $60 application fee (check, credit card or money order) made payable to "ATSU-Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine." Only U.S. currency will be accepted. The application fee is valid for one year from the application date. The application, all supporting documents, and fee must be postmarked by the program deadline, March 1st. Students generally enter the program in the week following July 4th (check with Admissions for exact date). If there are questions or difficulties in complying with the stated deadlines, please call the Office of Admissions at 1-866-626-2878, Ext. 2237. Deadlines for non-U.S. citizens and permanent residents are two months earlier than stated above for U.S. citizens.

Note: Please call the ATSU Admissions at 1-866-626-2878, Ext. 2237, to confirm receipt of the application form and application fee. Accepted applicants (or enrolled students) in the D.O. program need complete only the application form and submit it along with the application fee. Submission of transcripts, letters, or test scores is not necessary.

Transcripts

Applicants need to request official transcripts from each college or university attended to be sent directly to ATSU Admissions. Courses recorded on one transcript as transfer credit from another institution are not considered official documentation of the coursework.

If currently enrolled in coursework, please send the most recent transcripts from that college/university. Applicants may submit transcripts directly in their application packet in sealed and endorsed envelopes. All transcripts must be in official college/university envelopes.

Applicants who have graduated from a foreign college or university must submit acceptable evidence of U.S. degree/course equivalency. Applicants must have foreign transcripts evaluated by a foreign evaluation service.

Letters of Evaluation

Submit two letters of evaluation ATSU Admissions. Letters should be submitted on official letterhead. Applicants may submit letters of evaluation with their application packet in sealed, endorsed envelopes. Letters from an educational consulting service or relative will not be considered.

Test Scores

Applicants must submit either GRE, MCAT, or DAT test scores. Other appropriate test scores will be considered on an individual basis.

Foreign Students, whose native language is not English, must demonstrate English proficiency by submitting recent scores of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS).

GRE or TOEFL examination dates, locations, and registration inquiries should be directed to the Educational Testing Services at (609) 921-9000. To direct GRE or TOEFL scores directly to the ATSU/Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, specify school code 6238 and allow six weeks for transmittal of test results.

Forward official test scores to ATSU Admissions. Student copies of the test scores are not considered official.

Completion of the Initial Application Process

Applications will be reviewed by the Graduate Program Committee only upon receipt of all of the following official application items:

Application form and $60 application fee
Official transcripts
Letters of evaluation
Official test scores

Note: After submission of all of the items listed above. Please call ATSU Admissions at 1-866-626-2878, Ext. 2237, to confirm that the initial application process has been completed.

Interviews

Eligibility for an interview will be determined by the Graduate Program Committee and will be based on academic preparation, interest in biomedical research, career goals, life and work experiences, and letters of evaluation. Qualified applicants will be interviewed on-campus by members of the Graduate Program Committee as part of the final selection process. The Graduate Program Committee will contact applicants, who have completed their applications, to schedule interviews.
