This gram
positive coccus is not the cause of Bob's condition. This gram positive
coccus is catalase positive and is never alpha hemolytic on blood agar
plates. Usually it is seen in patients with a prior respiratory infection
(ex. influenza) or in patients with cystic fibrosis.
