Rarely this virus causes pneumonia in persons with normally
functioning immune systems. Usually pneumonia due to this virus is seen
in the newborn, chemotherapy patients, or in patients with severely depressed
immune systems due to organ transplants etc.. The classic histological
slide is called the "Owl's
eye cell".
