pneumonia. Chlamydia trachomatis pneumonia is normally seen in the
newborn infant. The patient does not usually have a fever and rarely produces
any sputum. The lungs contain infiltrates rather than consolidations. The
organism is an obligate intracellular bacteria that is not stainable by
gram stain or acid-fast stain techniques.
