LRC Image Collections

The Learning Resource Center has put together a set of medical image resources to support both faculty curriculum and course development and student course work.  ATSU has copyright clearance for use of these images for instructional use.  The resources are all accessible via the LRC Portal and are listed below with brief explanations:

Anatomy Teaching Assistant is a presentation tool featuring all 2,000+ stunning illustrations and clinical images from Gilroy et al, "Atlas of Anatomy". This is the atlas that the images in Blinking Skull in Thieme E-Books are pulled from. You can save images from this online version of the atlas to use in your course material as well as have your students use the full atlas or the smaller, blinking skull version. To be able to down load images you need to set up a free user account. Click on the logon box in the upper right corner of page to get to the page with the create account link (or click here).

Head & Neck Anatomy for Dentistry is a digital resource which includes: 3D views of head and neck, face, oronasal cavities, oral cavity, pharynx and larynx, dentition, individual teeth, nerves, ear, eye, brain, individual bones, vertebrae and more. Any of these images may be saved as JPEGs and used for instructional purposes. If you want to save an image there is an floppy disk icon on the bottom of the page just to the right of the printer icon.

Images from the History of Medicine (IHM) provides access to nearly 70,000 images in the collections of the History of Medicine Division (HMD) of the U.S National Library of Medicine (NLM). The collection includes portraits, photographs, caricatures, genre scenes, posters, and graphic art illustrating the social and historical aspects of medicine dated from the 15th to 21st century.

MDConsult is an integrated clinical information product including full text journals, textbooks, patient handouts and reviews of recent news. It provides an option to search for images among the 50,000 images contained in the 51 textbooks included in the product.

StatRef is an electronic resource for healthcare professionals. The LRC subscribes to a StatRef collection of medical resources and to a collection of Dental resources.  The advance search interface allows you to search them for images which you can utilize for teaching purposes. Use the boxs below to search them for images - enter your term, check the image box. and then click on Search.
